Quick Guide

Building a stronghold in Memoria gains you access to in-world benefits, but also puts you at higher in-world risks.

Building a Stronghold

Steps to Gaining a Stronghold

  1. Establish a personal connection to the universe.

Any character may set out to build a stronghold in Memoria.

However, they must first establish a personal connection to the universe. This is usually done by completing at least one or more quests there.

  2. Establish your character’s motivation for a stronghold.

Once a character has a personal connection, they should develop a strong motivation for building a stronghold. This could be a desire to protect a loved one, a desire to establish a legacy, or a desire to create a safe haven for themselves.

  3. Make your request.

At this point, you can request for your character to build a stronghold in one of Memoria’s worlds. Please be sure to clarify what you’d like to build, where you’d like to build it, and your hopes for the stronghold.

  4. Pay for the Stronghold.

Once approved, you will need to expend the appropriate resources on the Land of Luck server. Depending on what time and energy you’d like to expend on your Stronghold, costs may vary.

  5. Maintain the Stronghold.

If your character abandons the Stronghold for too long without appropriate considerations taken to preserve its status in the world, it may be lost to time, taken by enemies, or otherwise experience negative outcomes which your character may need to rectify later in order to reestablish ownership or reap positive benefits.

Stronghold Pricing

While Memoria has its own economy, the costs of building a stronghold are based on the Land of Luck server’s economy. However, these costs may vary on what exactly you want to build and where you want to build it, and may be negotiable.

Benefits

Use the Heroic Resident Table

Once you become a permanent resident by building a stronghold, as long as you carry yourself heroically (DM discretion), you can begin rolling on the Heroic Resident Table.

Stronghold Output

Depending on the type of stronghold you build, you may have access to the output it produces.

For example, if you build a school of magic, you will gain access to its students, the reputation it brings, and the magical items it produces. If you build a company, you gain access to a wider network of contacts, the company’s profits, and the products it produces.

Extra gold, items, and other benefits tangential or intangential, are all only applicable within the universe of Memoria and cannot be brought back to the Land of Luck or any other universe, excepting for items and gold earned through server-approved rewards as usual.

Amplified Reputation

Depending on your stronghold and how often you visit, you may gain access to other benefits, such as in-world funding, access to unique items, and more networking opportunities. While any adventurer may begin developing a reputation through normal questing, owning a stronghold makes you a resident in the world, increasing the chances locals know who you are.

This opens you to unique opportunities to leverage your hard-earned reputation.

Risks

Theft, Natural Disasters, and More

Strongholds are not immune to theft, fire, or other disasters. Your stronghold may be put under threat by enemies, natural disasters, or other events. It is up to you to protect your stronghold and its residents.

Amplified Reputation

With great renown comes great responsibility. The more you are known in the world, the more likely you are to be targeted by enemies and other threats.
