Introduction

Memoria, its full name “Fatalis Memoria” long since lost to time, is fueled by chaos, resulting in the highly improbable and highly unusual, even completely nonsensical at times. The veil between all planes is particularly thin, which explains a number of catastrophic convergences with immeasurable consequences. Planets, continents, cities, and villages are often forgotten in the aftermath and carry on the best they can in their damaged state of disconnect.

In modern times, two primary worlds have managed to survive these events and maintain some form of larger society, though interstellar travel and points of contact are limited. In the search for more concrete communications and pathways between worlds and planes, the ability to contact and summon Luckians was eventually discovered… though no one quite understands it yet.

Memoria’s Worlds

The known universe of Memoria has two major worlds, Obsidian and Valeria.

Obsidian

Once favored by the gods, when the gods were more present in the universe. Now, it is a world of great unknowns, where the gods are distant and the people are left to fend for themselves.

Despite this, it is a relatively peaceful world with no major wars or armies. Magic is known but powerful users of it are not common.

Valeria

Chaos and violence are the norm in Valeria. Here it is more common to find powerful magic users, and the world is filled with strange and dangerous creatures native to the planet, not just the abhorrations made possible by the Great Convergence.

While society is more organized here, there is also more tension between groups of people and many power dynamics at play.

General Knowledge

Time is generally referred to as Pre-Convergence (P.C.) and After-Convergence (A.C.), or The Great Convergence itself.

Educated residents of Memoria know it has been at least 400-600 years since the Great Convergence, though exact dates are debated by what scholars exist and not all areas keep the best track of time, Luckians can surmise that in Modern times, it is around the year 575 A.C. (though repeat quest-takers may note that it is not always Modern times).

The Great Convergence lasted at least several decades and was a dangerous and chaotic time where the planes continually ebbed and flowed out of control, overlapping in ways that Planes are simply not meant to. Many of the details were lost but it is known that there was great natural destruction during these times, in addition to terrible conflicts between beings of all realms.

Intentional interplanar travel is only just coming back into the consciousness of the universe, and in its discovery, something in the weave seems to have tapped into Luck’s frequency. It is as if there is a slow universal awakening to this possibility, allowing more and more individuals to reach out and call for interplanar guardians to come to their aid. No given Memoria native would be able to explain this as anything but an inexplicable urge to send their request out into the universe.
